Export your food journal to CSV, JSON, or HTML
Keep a readable copy, open your meals in a spreadsheet, or save structured data.

Choose the format for what you want to do next
Meali can export meal entries as CSV, JSON, or HTML. You do not need to understand all three formats. Choose the one that fits how you want to read or use your copy.
- CSV: open it in a spreadsheet
- Use CSV when you want to sort rows, filter dates, or work with your journal in a spreadsheet such as Excel or Google Sheets. Check how your spreadsheet imports dates and numbers before calculating with them.
- HTML: read it in a browser
- Use HTML when you want a readable document of your meals. Open the saved file in a browser. It is a copy of the exported entries, not a live page that updates with the app.
- JSON: keep structured data
- Use JSON when you or a tool need the structured entry data. It is useful for custom processing, but less comfortable to read by hand than HTML.
Export step by step
- Open Settings in Meali and choose the export option.
- Select the date range you want. Start with a short range if you only need a few meals.
- Choose CSV, JSON, or HTML.
- Use the preview to check the selected entries and their count.
- Export, then choose where to save or share the file using the available iPhone options.
Before sending a copy, open it and check that the range and entries are the ones you intended. If you update a meal later, export again to include that change in a new file.
An export is a snapshot of your journal
The export uses the meal entries available in the app for your selected range. It records the data at the time you export; it does not wait for every unfinished nutrition estimate to become available.
If you need completed estimates in the copy, reconnect and review the meals first. Missing values should not be interpreted as zero nutrition. Changing the file in a spreadsheet does not change the original meals in Meali.
These are journal exports, not a full device backup or a promised import-and-restore format. Do not assume a meal export includes your separate health profile, weight history, or every photo file.
